Smile!!

This week I really enjoyed my assembly and it started with a simple question…

Why do gorillas have such big nostrils?

Not a lot of children knew the answer to that one!

If you know please keep it to yourself and send me a comment at the end…

Then I asked a few children to come to the front and tell us a joke… they did a great job and the audience thought it was hilarious! We were really laughing! Our noses were wrinkled up, our mouths turned up, our tummies shook and we made funny whooping noises. We felt good!

The point of the assembly was really all about our feelings; sometimes we are happy and sometimes we are sad. When you are sad, sometimes you can cheer yourself up by thinking about things in a more positive way. One example was to think that when it is wet playtime don’t just feel sad because you can’t play football, think about how much you will enjoy playing a game in the classroom with your friends. Also if we don’t expect too much (don’t be greedy!) then we will often be pleasantly surprised which will make us happy. Children said that they felt happy when they played with their friends and family and when they thought about happy memories. We thought it would be good to tell each other jokes to make us laugh as this feels good.

So can you tell me a joke? Go on! Make us smile!

What about the answer to my question?

Why do gorillas have such big nostrils?

Because they have big fingers!

I have to thank my nephew Euan for telling me the joke. It makes me smile every time I think of him laughing with me!

Thank you all for your replies, I am really imporessed with the response to my post! I have sent my 2 nephews an email (Yes I can eventually get the hang of technology but it does take me a while!) and hope they will reply with some more jokes. I know they are on half term next week and will be busy skiing but they might have time to answer us!
In the meantime, here is a joke I don’t think they will know, do you know it?

    What colour is a burp?

    Burple!

You will know that purple is actually my favourite colour which is why I like the joke, even though it’s a bit cheeky! Have a happy weekend!

Hello Ms Pattison! How are you on this fine evening? Me and Omar were both very interested in your post, we think that you are doing a wonderful job with your blog!(Very amusing!) We were both reading this post and we were just wondering if we could share two jokes with you! This is Aiden’s joke: Why are cooks so cruel?
Answer: Because they whip cream and they beat eggs.
    This is Omar’s joke:
Why don’t the most popular crisp run a marathon?
    Answer: Because they are Walkers!
    Very funny right?
By the way we both didn’t know these jokes we heard them from both of our friends. You are making such great posts that we think that you could even become a very famous blogger! Once Me and Aiden had a joke book and we used to tell them to everybody and now they know all of the answers and we have nothing to tell them! We were wondering if your nephew knows any more funny/hilarious jokes because I think I could be a comedian one day. Anyway we think that your post is excellent we both look forward to reading more on this blog,

    Hi Miss Pattison,

I really enjoyed your blog post and I am really splendid to reading more of your posts. You are really getting the hang of blogging aren’t you? I absolutely am interested in you to contiued in talking about pancakes, and more about jokes! The hilarious thing is that the way Mr Sloan was laughing and all of the jokes were actually funny to me. It is an important skill that if you are sad you can cheer yourself up or one of your friends might what to cheer them up. I won’t answer this but I would leave it for children around the world to try and answer it Miss Pattison.

Hope you reply to this Miss Pattison! From Charlene

I really enjoyed the jokes too Miss Pattison. I’m very lucky to have such great children in my class – they make me laugh every day, and I agree that it makes a big difference. We all get sad sometimes, so knowing how to cheer yourself up is a really important skill.
